As blogspot informed me, this is the 100th post on this blog so I guess it's the right time to say a few things about an upcoming release that I feel proud to be part of. As you might have figured out already I'm talking about the Πανδημία - Μοντέρνα Πανούκλα LP! The test pressings of the lp arrived in the mail today and instantly found their way on my turntable, I've been waiting to hear this great record on vinyl for quite some time now and damn, it was well worth the waiting as, in my opinion, it's one of the best greek punk releases of the recent years! Μοντέρνα Πανούκλα (Modern Plague) manage to express the feelings of hopelesness and disgust that the greek society generates in these hard times, an all-out musical and lyrical attack against everything that keeps us enslaved both in body and mind. The music can be classified as "post punk" but Πανδημία's (Pandemia) influences are all over the place raging from classic '80's anarcho-punk (The System, Crisis) to old Greek hardcore (Adiexodo, Ex-Humans) to new wave (Metro Decay which they cover in their live shows). Also, somehow the music has a danceable vibe to it that you can't ignore even if you're black-clad crust punk! If you don't get it then just go back to your generic street punk records and youthfull rebellion attitude until you're old enough to quit punk and get an office job.
